ACCELERATING PERFORMANCE
When it comes to housing, Canadians demand quality and want action on climate change. Leading home builders know this. They’re already building to a high standard and aiming higher. Our job is to help.
ABOUT US
EnerQuality is the #1 certifier of energy efficient housing in Canada and the market leader in residential green building programs.
Founded in 1998 by the Ontario Home Builders’ Association and the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, EnerQuality creates voluntary, market-based programs that help builders innovate. We partner with government, manufacturers, utilities and professionals to bring our programs to market.
In 2005, EnerQuality joined forces with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to develop ENERGY STAR® for New Homes. The results are in: we created the most successful energy efficiency program in Canadian housing, proving that government and industry can do great things together.
In 2018, thanks to funding from the IESO and Enbridge, EnerQuality and NRCan again teamed up to develop ENERGY STAR® Multifamily. Now in market, we’re working with the Government of Canada and the homebuilding industry to change how we build mid/high-rise housing.
Better Built
Homes™
Improving the energy efficiency of housing plays an important role in Canada’s climate action plan. Builders and homebuyers agree.
The good news is Canada has been a global leader in building science since the 1970s. Thanks to market transformation programs like ENERGY STAR®, Optimum Home and Savings By Design, energy efficiency has gone mainstream and Canadian housing is on the path to net zero by 2030.
But there’s more to better building than energy. Durability, resilience and occupant health are equally important dimensions of quality. And when it comes to carbon, how we plan our communities and the materials we use in construction are as meaningful as the energy we use to power our homes.
Thankfully, EnerQuality’s builders are serious about sustainability, trained in building science and skilled in quality construction. They’re the best in the business and we’re proud to work with them.
